About Basic Computing
Our story
Basic Computing was founded by Euan Griffin in 2014. As a lifelong computer enthusiast and a university graduate in Interactive Media, Euan often found himself helping people make sense of everyday tech. Not just complete beginners, but also people who used computers regularly at work and still felt stuck when something did not behave the way they expected.
Over the years, those “can you help me with this?” moments kept coming up again and again. At the same time, Euan built over a decade of experience supporting people with disabilities, and later moved into a management role in 2021 within a well-known organisation. That work brought an even clearer picture of how technology can either remove barriers or create them. This is especially true for older adults, people with additional support needs, and anyone who has been left behind as more and more services move online.
That’s why Basic Computing is being relaunched for 2026. Our goal is simple: make technology feel less intimidating and more useful, through patient, practical support that meets people where they are. Whether it’s learning the basics, building confidence for day-to-day digital tasks, getting comfortable with workplace tools, or using technology for something creative and enjoyable, we’re here to help.
Basic Computing is currently founder-led, with Euan delivering sessions directly. The service is built around clear explanations, calm support, and real progress.
How a session works
We start by chatting through what you want to achieve, even if you are not sure where to begin.
We go step by step, practise together, then you try it yourself with support until it feels comfortable.
We focus on useful wins you can repeat at home, and we keep everything clear and relaxed.
You leave with a simple plan for what to practise next, so the progress sticks.
