Ask AI about documents and images
A summary is a reading of a source
Choose how to check a claim about an uploaded source.
You will understand the limits of summaries and visual interpretation.
Some AI tools can discuss an attached document or image. This can help locate a topic or explain wording, but the result is an interpretation, not a substitute for the original. Small print, tables, diagrams or missing pages can lead to mistaken answers.

Choose the source and compare the answer
How this works

First decide whether the material is yours to share and whether it contains private information. Use a harmless complete example or a relevant anonymous excerpt. File and image capabilities differ by service and account; follow the app’s labelled Attach or Upload control only when available and appropriate.

Ask a focused question such as Which paragraph describes the cancellation deadline? Request the page or section supporting the answer. Explain if the supplied material is incomplete. A tool may miss text in an image, confuse table columns or infer something absent, so ask it to identify uncertainty.

Compare the answer with the original page or image yourself. Check numbers, labels, exceptions and the surrounding passage. Do not accept a summary as proof of what a contract allows or an image as a medical diagnosis. For an unclear source, obtain a better original or ask a suitable person rather than treating a confident guess as evidence.
An AI summary says a fee is £25, but the table has several customer categories. What should you check?

You supply only page one of a two-page policy. What is useful to tell the tool?
Answer: That the source is incomplete and conclusions may depend on the missing page
Missing material can change the answer. State the limitation and obtain the source when needed.
A photograph has unreadable small print. What is a sensible next step?
Answer: Obtain a clearer original rather than relying on inferred wording
The source must support the detail. A clearer original is better than a confident reconstruction.
AI points to a paragraph about cancellation. What should you read before relying on it?
Answer: That paragraph and any relevant surrounding exceptions
Context and exceptions can affect the meaning. The original remains the source to check.

Use a harmless sample page and write one question that can be answered from it. Mark the exact evidence yourself; no upload is needed.
Do not upload private, confidential or unauthorised material. Tools can misread documents and images.
