What will I learn?
Know when and how to save a picture of the screen.
You may want a picture of the whole screen kept as a file for later. A screenshot records what is visible at that moment, so it can include information from more than one app.

The keys and what happens
Where it works Windows keyboards with Print Screen; some devices also need Fn
Windows+Print Screen (PrtScn)
Key names are shown separately, not as a keyboard layout. A + between key boxes means combine them. A box named Plus means the actual Plus key. Follow the steps below for alternatives.
1How to use it
Hold the Windows logo key, press Print Screen, then release both. The key may say PrtScn or PrtSc; some laptops also need Fn. Hold Windows, press E and release both keys to open File Explorer. Click Pictures in its left navigation, then open Screenshots with two quick left clicks to find the picture.
2What to watch for
The picture may include all connected screens. Check it carefully before sharing. The Pictures folder may be inside OneDrive if folder backup is enabled. This captures a still picture, not a screen recording. If your keyboard lacks Print Screen, use the screen-snipping method instead.
You can learn this shortcut without pressing it here. The real keys act on your computer or the app you are using.
