LEARN THE SHORTCUT
The keys and what happens
Where it works Microsoft Edge on Windows. These shortcuts also work in Chrome; other apps may behave differently.
Ctrl+Plus (+)
Key names are shown separately, not as a keyboard layout. A + between key boxes means combine them. A box named Plus means the actual Plus key. Follow the steps below for alternatives.
1How to use it
In the browser, hold Ctrl and tap the Plus (+) key, then release the keys, to enlarge the page. On a keyboard where + shares the = key, you may also need to hold Shift to produce +. Hold Ctrl and tap Minus (-), then release, to make the view smaller. Hold Ctrl and tap the number 0, then release both, to reset the page zoom.
2What to watch for
Zoom changes your view, not the saved words or original picture. It can rearrange a page or make less of it fit on screen. If a keyboard layout makes the plus combination awkward, click the browser's three-dot menu once and use its labelled Zoom plus or minus control. These instructions concern webpage zoom; other apps may use different controls.
You can learn this shortcut without pressing it here. The real keys act on your computer or the app you are using.
