Ask the current page to load again: Ctrl + R
When this helps
Read the idea, learn the key combination and answer a question about when it would help.
Know when and how to ask the current page to load again.
Reloading asks the browser to load the current page again. It can help when a page has not finished displaying properly or when you want to check for updated information.

The keys and what happens
Where it works Microsoft Edge on Windows. These shortcuts also work in Chrome; other apps may behave differently.
Key names are shown separately, not as a keyboard layout. A + between key boxes means combine them. A box named Plus means the actual Plus key. Follow the steps below for alternatives.
How to use it
With the browser in front, hold Ctrl, tap R once, then release both keys. Alternatively, press and release F5 once, using the key labelled F5 on the top row. If your laptop uses that key for a device control, use Ctrl + R instead. Wait for the page to finish loading before deciding whether to try again.
What to watch for
Reloading does not guarantee a page will change or fix an internet connection. Save unfinished website work first, as reloading can lose entries. If a site asks to resend form information, do not approve automatically, especially after submitting an order or payment. Check the site's result before repeating an action.
You can learn this shortcut without pressing it here. The real keys act on your computer or the app you are using.
When would you use it?
A page is only partly displayed, and you want to ask for that same page again. Which action fits?
