Bold text has heavier strokes that draw the eye. It can help a reader notice a heading or a key point, especially when you use it sparingly rather than giving every sentence equal emphasis.

Key names are shown separately, not as a keyboard layout. A + between key boxes means combine them. A box named Plus means the actual Plus key. Follow the steps below for alternatives.
1How to use it
In a formatted document, select the words by holding the left mouse button while dragging across them, then release it. Hold Ctrl, tap B once, then release both keys. The selected words should become bold. Use the same shortcut on the same selection to switch bold off.
2What to watch for
Without a selection, the shortcut usually changes how the next words you type will look. Plain-text apps cannot show bold. Outside a text editor, this shortcut may do something different; check you are editing the intended document first.
