Basic Computing THE EASY WAY TO LEARN

We Make Computers Feel Simple

We provide simple, patient, one to one computer help for people who want to feel more confident using technology, whether that is at home, online, or in everyday life. From turning a computer on and understanding what the buttons do, right through to using email, the internet, documents, and essential online services, everything is explained clearly, calmly, and at your pace.

Our approach is designed especially for beginners and returning users. There is no rushing, no assumptions, and no technical jargon. Instead, we explain things using everyday language and familiar comparisons, so using your computer feels less like a hindrance and more like a tool you can understand and control.

People choose our service because we do not just show you what to click. We help you understand why you are doing it. That means skills last, confidence grows, and you are not left feeling lost when the session ends.

If you have ever thought "everyone else seems to get this but me", you are exactly who Basic Computing is for.

Our Services

Based in Scotland, we provide friendly, down‑to‑earth computer support designed for real people, not tech experts. Whether you are completely new to computers or just feel you have been left behind by constant changes, we take the time to explain things clearly, calmly, and at your pace.

In-person computer support session

In-Person Support

Best for calm, face-to-face support.

We offer friendly, one-to-one computer help across the Scottish Central Belt. Sessions can be at your home, workplace, a local library, or even a café — wherever you feel most comfortable. You can use your own device, or if you don’t have one yet, you can still learn using a laptop provided by Basic Computing.

Online support via video call

Online Support

Best for learning from home.

Prefer to stay put, or live outside the Scottish Central Belt? No problem. We can support you online using video calls and screen sharing, so you can follow along on your own device. It’s the same patient, plain-English help — just without the travel.

Help finding the right computer

Help Finding the Right Computer

Best if you want a stress-free choice.

Whether you are looking for a brand new machine or a good-quality used computer, we help you choose something that suits your needs and budget. Everything is explained clearly, so you only pay for what you actually need.

Group computer tutoring session

Group Bookings

Best for teams and community groups.

Need to support a few people at once? We offer group tutoring for businesses, charities, and community groups. Sessions can take place at your workplace, church, or community hall, and we keep things friendly and easy to follow. Please note: for group bookings, laptops/computers will need to be provided for attendees.

Support for children and additional needs

Additional Support Needs

Best for calm, confidence-building sessions.

We have over a decade of experience supporting people with disabilities, and we tailor sessions to suit the person, not the other way around. You can book one-to-one support or a group session — whether the goal is learning the basics, building confidence with everyday tasks, or working on a fun project like a short video, digital art, or a simple creative idea.

What to include:
Tell us what you’d like help with (and what “done” looks like). Mention if you’re starting from scratch or stuck on something specific, where you’re based, and where you’d like the session (home, workplace, library, café, or online). Add anything else that will help us plan the right session.

If forms aren’t your thing, that’s absolutely fine.
