Our Services
Based in Scotland, we provide friendly, down-to-earth computer support for anyone who wants to feel more confident using technology. Whether you are completely new to computers, returning to them after a break, or simply trying to keep up with new tools and changes, we take the time to explain things clearly, calmly, and at your pace.
In-Person Computer Lessons
Best for calm, face-to-face support.
We offer friendly, one-to-one computer help across the Scottish Central Belt. Sessions can be at your home, workplace, a local library, or even a café (wherever you feel most comfortable). You can use your own device, or if you don’t have one yet, you can still learn using a laptop provided by Basic Computing.
Online Computer Lessons
Best for distance learning.
Prefer to stay put, or live outside the Scottish Central Belt? No problem. We can support you online using video calls and screen sharing, so you can follow along on your own device. It’s the same patient, plain-English help (just over the internet).
Help Choosing the Right Laptop or Computer
Best choice for purchasing help.
Whether you are looking for a brand new machine or a good-quality used computer, we help you choose something that suits your needs and budget. Everything is explained clearly, so you only pay for what you actually need.
Group Computer Lessons
Best for teams and community groups.
Need to support a few people at once? We offer group tutoring for businesses, charities, and community groups. Sessions can take place at your workplace, church, or community hall, and we keep things friendly and easy to follow. Please note: for group bookings, laptops/computers will need to be provided for attendees.
Computer Lessons for Additional Support Needs
Best for learners who may benefit from extra support.
We have over a decade of experience supporting people with disabilities, and we tailor sessions to suit the person, not the other way around. You can book one-to-one support or a group session. Whether the goal is learning the basics, building confidence with everyday tasks, or working on a fun project like a short video, digital art, or a simple creative idea.
Everyday Technology Help
Best for getting more comfortable with your everyday devices.
Technology is not limited to computers. We can help you understand and use your smartphone, iPad, tablet, smart TV, streaming device, or other everyday technology. Whether you are struggling with settings, apps, video calls, photographs, messages, or simply finding your way around, we will guide you through it patiently and in plain English.
New Device Setup
Best for getting started without the stress.
Bought a new phone, tablet, smart TV, laptop, or desktop computer? We can help you set it up properly, connect it to the internet, install updates, add your accounts and apps, and adjust the settings to suit you. Where possible, we can also help transfer your photographs, files, contacts, and other important information from your previous device.
Small Business Digital Support
Best for making everyday business technology simpler and more efficient.
We help sole traders and small businesses feel more confident using the technology they rely on every day. This could include organising files and folders, using email and calendars, creating documents, managing cloud storage, completing online forms, setting up video calls, or finding simpler ways to carry out repetitive tasks. Support is tailored around your business, with clear explanations and practical steps you can continue using after the session.
